Shattered Peace began only a short while after Autumn Stillness, in the very same park. After photographing the quiet lake and its autumn colour, I wandered for a while before eventually heading back towards the car. A man passed me and walked down towards the water. Moments later, an enormous commotion erupted behind me.

I turned to find the calm lakeside suddenly filled with birds, seemingly appearing from everywhere at once. Whether the man had come to feed them or his arrival simply triggered the reaction, I never knew. There was barely time to think about composition. I had a split second to raise the camera and capture the chaos before the moment changed again.

That sudden transformation is what gives Shattered Peace both its title and its story. The lone figure remains almost motionless beside the water while the entire scene around him erupts into movement, wings cutting across the warm autumn landscape in every direction. Knowing that Autumn Stillness was photographed shortly beforehand makes the contrast even stronger: two photographs from the same place, on the same visit, showing just how quickly tranquillity can become energy.

As a Limited Edition, Shattered Peace celebrates that collision between stillness and movement. At scale, the lone figure draws you into the scene before the eye begins to follow the birds throughout the frame, revealing more of the moment the longer you spend with it.

Print quality and finish

The canvas print is wrapped on a high-quality stretcher frame. Reinforced corners prevent warping. This makes tightening or refitting the canvas later unnecessary. The wooden stretcher frame used is FSC®-certified and sourced from responsible forestry.
The structure of our new cotton blend fabric is reminiscent of a classic painting which brings this stunning nature scene to life beautifully.

Size and presence

This edition is produced at 150 × 100 cm, approximately 59 × 39 inches.

At this scale, the work is designed to hold a wall confidently. It reads clearly from distance, yet reveals nuance and texture as you move closer. This size and finish will not be repeated for this image.
